What is CPD and what can Spiral UK offer?
CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development and is a term used to describe the ongoing learning activities undertaken by industry professionals in order to develop and enhance their skills and broaden capabilities within their field, also known as upskilling. These activities often take the form of interactive presentations and can be delivered over several sessions or as a single event.
In recent years, technology has rapidly changed the way we work, and working on your CPD is one of the best ways to keep your skillset relevant. Many professions have a robust expectation for CPD in order to guarantee compliance and industry recognition, with some implementing a points-based system which must be achieved annually.
There are three main types of CPD: structured (active learning), reflexive (passive learning), and informal (self-directed learning). Structured learning is generally considered to provide the most benefits, and is the only type which can lead to credits (for points-based professions). As well as being a requirement for some industries, CPD has additional benefits to the individual – filling in knowledge gaps can help you to solve problems in a new way and overcome issues that may have been holding you back professionally. The session covers topics such as staircase design and industry regulations and includes a Q&A in order to address any specific queries from attendees. Sessions can also be tailored to your specific needs, from Materials & Finishes right through to estimated Lead Times and Costings.

Spiral CPD sessions last for around 40 minutes, so are easy to slot into a working day! After the event, all attendees will receive certification via email which can then be used to increase your annual CPD score (where required). They can also be a great opportunity for teambuilding and a chance for colleagues who don’t cross paths regularly to check in, improving wellbeing for individuals and fostering community for companies.
