Our Story
Originally set up to produce concrete spiral staircases, Spiral UK, then known as Spiral Construction, developed an exceptional level of specialist expertise in spiral staircase design and spiral staircase installation.
As the company’s customer base grew, we expanded into other forms of bespoke staircases, working with a wide range of materials, including steel, glass, wood and stone.
Today, we have become one of the UKs leading specialist staircase manufacturers, working across the UK, with a national reputation for outstanding innovation, product quality and customer service.

Founded in 1985 by father and son duo Buzz and Eric Nicholls, Spiral Construction started crafting concrete spiral staircase structures from their small factory in Cornwall.
As time went on, the company progressed, gaining significant recognition for their high quality construction of spiral staircases thus awarding them the growth into expanding in other staircase design types and adding more material and finish options.
We now operate from premises in Helston, Cornwall and St Ives, Cambridge. With a highly skilled team of over 50 people, we combine the latest technologies with design flair and craftsmanship, to create stunning staircases for many of the country’s most prestigious buildings.

1985
Spiral Construction is formed
Buzz and Eric Nicholls set up Spiral Construction Ltd out of a small workshop in St Keverne, Cornwall. Made up of three staff members they specialise in concrete structures and turn over £50,000.00 a year.
2002
Spiral Construction expands
In 2002, Spiral Construction benefits from its growing popularity and moves to set up at their premises in Helston, Cornwall.
2012
The factory extends
We extend our factory site at Helston to be bigger! Continuing to develop our offering by incorporating a wide range of materials such as glass, wood, steel and metal.
2015
Spiral UK is born
Spiral Construction Ltd is rebranded and given a fresh new look to reflect its nationwide status becoming Spiral UK Ltd.
2024
Today...
We now employ a staff base of 35 across our premises in both Helston and St Ives in Cambridgeshire and turnover £3.5million a year. In 2025 we will be going into our 40th year of trading.
