Blue steel spiral stairs for Checkatrade
Spiral UK were commissioned to create the office fit out stairs for the refurbishment of Checkatrade’s new headquarters at Lakeside North Harbour, Portsmouth. We worked with fit out company Grey Interiors who were contracted to design and deliver this new 30,000 sq ft workspace.
The large spiral staircase we designed was modern in style, fabricated in steel then powder coated in the familiar Checkatrade blue to reflect the commercial interior design of this workspace.
Spiral UK has lots of experience of working on office fit out projects. We have found that keeping our design, manufacture and install process in house helps us maintain our high-quality standards and manage the tight schedule common for these types of jobs.

Office spiral staircase
This large bespoke spiral staircase really made its mark in the open plan design of Checkatrade’s offices. Serving two floors these office stairs were enclosed with a special perforated sheet on the outer balustrade and an integrated stringer band. The unperforated margin at the bottom of the stair was designed to look like a decorative stringer. The treads were inlaid with hard wearing carpet and the handrails were mild steel in matching Checkatrade blue.
