Feature helical / curved staircase for Alphabeta building
Sleek, helical / curved staircase installed at the Alphabeta Building.
This fantastic feature helical was produced by Spiral UK for Collins Construction PLC who were wanting to install a structure that could connect the 8th and 9th floors of the Alphabeta building in Moorgate, London.
The inspiration behind this feature came mostly from it’s surroundings and the location of which the staircase was intended to be installed. Bringing in the white framing from the simplistic, sleek white surrounding walls with pops of vibrant colour under the treads to match the accents around the area, with the timber wooden treads designed to match the interior wooden flooring to give the effect of a seamless flow.
Spiral UK were the principle project leads with the design and construction of the piece, taking charge of ensuring the structure was a striking and complimentary feature to this building. Once designed and manufactured, it was up to both Spiral’s and Collins Construction’s installation teams to work together to fit this structure in a 7 day window.
Spiral UK took charge of the process of ensuring the planning of the procedure, as well as overseeing the risk assessments and health and safety of the job. This project saw Spiral working with local traffic management systems to ensure all the plants and equipment were able to effectively get in and do their jobs.
This project was a great success and one that everyone involved was pleased to be part of. The staircase was in use by the users of the building within in the week and decorated just in time for the Christmas season.

This feature helical needed to be up and usable within a 7 day window, which meant pulling a lot of strings and organising many different elements in a busy area around London.
