Park Gwyn, Cornwall

This modern staircase design was for a new build property in Cornwall.

The contemporary home used the curved staircase we created and installed as a centrepiece in the open plan design of the property.

We installed this bespoke staircase in a new build dormer bungalow. A 390 square metre timber frame property with many spectacular features such as vaulted ceilings, a frameless glass balcony and our feature helical staircase.

A modern interior design feel has been created by the combination of glass, anthracite grey RAL 7016, stainless steel and wood effect Amtico vinyl flooring with a herringbone pattern, which is used throughout, including on the stair treads.

We are really pleased with the way the stunning combination of modern materials and paint finishes creates a dramatic effect and how the staircase integrates seamlessly with the rest of the house.

Curved staircase

The curved or helical staircase design was fabricated in steel with powder coated treads and wet painted stringers. These were painted in Anthracite Grey RAL 7016. The treads have an Amtico vinyl finish which colour matched to the rest of the flooring throughout the house. The staircase is enhanced by a toughened glass panel balustrade with a tubular satin polished stainless-steel handrail. The theme is continued by the matching balustrade to the stairwell and landing area.

One unusual aspect is that the treads are bolted to the stringers as part of the design rather than welded in place. This creates an interesting visual feature.
